  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct student outreach activities for prospective and current students, parents, and community members.
  • Develop and deliver clear, engaging financial aid presentations, workshops, orientations, and FAFSA completion events for individual and group audiences.
  • Represent the Financial Aid Office at college recruitment and retention events, high school visits, community programs, and other outreach activities.

Job description

The Financial Aid Advisor is a full-time position located on both the OCH and LLP Campuses in Monroe and Polkton, NC. Under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs, the Financial Aid Advisor provides high-quality service to students and employees to achieve a high standard of excellence and innovation in support services.
The Financial Aid Advisor serves as a point of contact for students and parents, advises them on the financial aid programs available at South Piedmont, and assists students with applying for financial aid and scholarships.

Student outreach and financial aid presentations are core functions of this position. Most outreach will occur during normal business hours; however, the selected candidate must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends in response to college, school, and community event requests.

  • Assist financial aid applicants in understanding the application process for Pell Grants, College Work-Study, the state need-based scholarship program, general scholarships, and other sources of financial assistance available to students at the college
  • Assist students with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ), related materials, and financial aid information in person, by telephone, and by email
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct student outreach activities for prospective and current students, parents, and community members
  • Develop and deliver clear, engaging financial aid presentations, workshops, orientations, and FAFSA completion events for individual and group audiences
  • Represent the Financial Aid Office at college recruitment and retention events, high school visits, community programs, and other outreach activities
  • Maintain schedule flexibility to support outreach and presentations held during normal business hours and, occasionally, during evenings and weekends
  • Assist in the collection and review of verification data, as directed by the Director of Financial Aid
  • Attend workshops and seminars on financial aid as requested
  • Maintain the confidentiality of student records and other pertinent information
  • Provide excellent customer service to students and co-workers
  • Assist other areas of Strategic Enrollment Management as needed
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, creativity, teamwork, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population
  • Demonstrate personal and professional integrity and the ability to self-start
  • Perform various other duties as assigned
