Ivy Tech Evansville seeks a Coordinator of Veteran Affairs to work in the Financial Aid office on the Evansville, IN campus. This role provides services to students receiving G.I. Bill Educational Benefits and Vocational Rehabilitation benefits to meet the requirements of the Code of Regulations Title 38, Part 21 from the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). The primary function is to coordinate services for students receiving benefits and report enrollment and application information to the DVA and the SAA.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong customer service and student advocacy through approachability, adaptability, problem-solving, and support for student success.
- Create an inclusive environment that values and supports all individuals.
- Address root causes of student issues to resolve problems efficiently and professionally.
- Coordinate delivery of benefits services in accordance with the Code of Regulations Title 38, Section 21.
- Perform certification functions required by the DVA, ensuring receipt of benefits during attendance.
- Accurately complete and submit all necessary data/forms to the appropriate government agencies.
- Resolve payment issues and meet special needs such as employment, housing, and referrals.
- Brief new students on college policies and VA regulations.
- Establish procedures with directives from the DVA and SAA.
- Coordinate regularly with the DVA and SAA to ensure compliance.
- Report student enrollment data and updates to the DVA to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Keep supervisors and college officials informed of issues within the VA office.
- Provide financial aid counseling to VA students and referred CDV students.
- Assist with enrollment services for new VA students.
- Manage record-keeping policies for GI Bill recipients.
- Advocate for students departing or returning from deployment or military duty.
- Increase access to learning success resources for VA students.
- Serve as an advisor for the Student Veterans Association.
- Assist students with paperwork and referrals to academic and campus services.
Other Responsibilities:
- Act as an advocate and subject matter expert for veterans and military personnel.
- Develop policies and programs addressing the needs of veteran and military students.
- Analyze campus policies related to veteran students and coordinate necessary updates.
- Collaborate with Student Life to address social needs of VA students.
Hiring Range:
- $42,000 - $48,000 annually, based on experience.

Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in student personnel, counseling, higher education, or related field.
- Two years of experience in higher education.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong student-centered and customer-service orientation.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, with strong planning and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in a higher education Veterans Affairs or Financial Aid department.
- Thorough knowledge of VA Regulations.
Physical Requirements:- Primarily sedentary work with occasional walking, talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, grasping, and occasional climbing or crawling.
- Work environment is typical of an office setting.
- Requires close visual acuity for data analysis, computer work, reading, and inspection.
