Job description

This is a front-line growth role for a person others genuinely want to speak with. You bring charisma and energy, but you use both with professional presence, good judgment, and purpose. As a Financial Advisor Recruiter, you will help people explore a meaningful career change, identify who has the grit and judgment to build a practice, and guide strong candidates through a thoughtful, high-accountability process.

At Thoroughbred Advisors, we are building a firm that develops people into capable, confident financial professionals. We recruit for the future of the profession: people who bring real-world experience, a strong work ethic, curiosity, communication skills, and a desire to build something of their own. Many candidates will come from sales, education, healthcare, operations, real estate, hospitality, military service, athletics, and business ownership.

You will think like an entrepreneur while choosing to build inside a thriving organization. You will find the diamonds: people who can build practices that change the lives of families and communities for generations. You will not wait for those candidates to find us. You will identify them, earn their trust, assess their readiness, and keep the process moving.

What You Will Own
Candidate Prospecting and Relationship Development
  • Proactively identify and engage high-potential financial advisor candidates through direct outreach, referrals, professional networks, social media, job boards, career events, alumni and community connections, recruiting platforms, and other sourcing channels.
  • Build candidate pipelines across four priority areas: career changers, experienced advisors, college and residency candidates, and advisor or community referrals.
  • Develop relationships with candidates who may not be ready to move today and maintain a timely, thoughtful long-term follow-up plan.
  • Represent Thoroughbred Advisors and the Financial Advisor opportunity with confidence, clarity, energy, and honesty.
  • Create new sourcing ideas and referral relationships that expand our reach in priority markets.
  • Use evolving recruiting technology, including AI-enabled tools where appropriate, to make research, outreach, organization, and follow-up more effective while keeping candidate relationships human and personal.
Candidate Screening and Judgment
  • Lead initial conversations and screenings that assess work history, communication, accountability, ambition, professional presence, sales or relationship-building ability, and readiness for an entrepreneurial career. Distinguish between someone who is curious about a career change and someone prepared to take action on it.
  • Communicate the career path accurately, including the licensing process, training expectations, 1099 independent-contractor structure, commission-based earnings, and the work required to build a financial advisor practice.
  • Deliver a candidate experience that is personal and professional while maintaining clear standards, appropriate urgency, and consistent follow-through. Partner with hiring leaders on candidate evaluation, interview preparation, feedback, and final-stage decisions.
Pipeline Ownership and Process Management
  • Guide qualified candidates through the defined recruiting journey: application, introductory webinar, virtual screening, pre-interview preparation, in-person interview, offer, licensing, and onboarding handoff. Coordinate candidate communication, interview scheduling, follow-up tasks, leadership involvement, and next steps across multiple markets and office locations.
  • Maintain complete and timely CRM and recruiting-system records, including candidate notes, activity, status, follow-up tasks, progression, and outcomes. Use pipeline data to identify stalled candidates, prioritize follow-up, improve conversion, and keep the team focused on the right opportunities.
  • Maintain a reliable operating rhythm of outreach, conversations, follow-up, documentation, and reporting.
Recruiting Strategy and Partnership
  • Work closely with financial advisors, leadership, managers, marketing, and operations to align candidate profiles, markets, messaging, webinars, and recruiting priorities, while sharing observations that strengthen sourcing strategy, recruiter training, recruiting technology, candidate experience, and onboarding readiness.
  • Participate in career fairs, networking opportunities, targeted recruiting events, and community-based talent initiatives as appropriate.
  • Operate in accordance with applicable employment laws, recruiting standards, firm policies, and privacy expectations.
Who Will Do Well Here

The right person is commercially minded, people-savvy, organized, and persistent. You build relationships easily, bring contagious professional energy, and care about doing work that makes a difference. You understand that serving our financial advisors well means helping them find future colleagues who will serve thousands of families over time.

  • You have the charisma and professional presence to make people want to take your call, continue the conversation, and consider a future they may not have seen before.
  • You are comfortable calling, messaging, and meeting new people, even when the answer may be no.
  • You ask thoughtful questions and make sound judgments about people without relying solely only on a resume.
  • You are competitive in a healthy way and take ownership of activity, follow-up, and results.
  • You think like an entrepreneur, bring ideas forward, and take responsibility for making your role better over time.
  • You can manage a large number of conversations and details without letting people feel like a number.
  • You are direct, warm, reliable, and professionally polished.
  • You learn technology quickly and use CRM, recruiting platforms, social media, Microsoft 365, calendars, reporting tools, and AI-enabled tools with discipline and good judgment.
  • You can work independently, welcome coaching, and collaborate well with leaders across the organization.
  • You can keep moving when a candidate goes quiet, a priority changes, or a sourcing method needs to be improved.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, professional sourcing, business development, sales, executive search, account management, or another relationship-driven role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships through proactive outreach and consistent follow-up.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interviewing, organization, time-management, and candidate-assessment skills.
  • Experience managing a pipeline in a CRM, applicant-tracking system, or comparable business platform preferred.
  • Financial services, insurance, or financial-advisor recruiting experience is preferred but not required. You must, however, be comfortable recruiting for an entrepreneurial, 1099, commission-based advisor opportunity that does not include a salary.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and demonstrated results preferred.

Experience matters, but it is not the only measure of fit. We will also pay close attention to how you show up in the interview, the quality of your communication, the results you have created so far, and the ownership you bring to this opportunity.

How Success Will Be Measured

Success is not measured by interview volume alone. You will be expected to create a healthy, organized pipeline of candidates who align with the opportunity and continue to move forward.

  • Quality and consistency of prospecting and outreach activity
  • Pipeline health, candidate quality, and market coverage
  • Timely follow-up and candidate progression
  • Screening quality and interview readiness
  • Conversion through the recruiting process
  • CRM accuracy, documentation, and use of recruiting tools
  • Contribution to a strong candidate experience and advisor-growth outcomes
Compensation and Growth

Base salary: $75,000 annually with opportunity for bonuses.

This role offers professional development, close partnership with firm leadership, and the opportunity to grow with a firm that is investing deeply in its recruiting capability and future advisor class.
