Job summary

Outsourced CFO Pty is seeking an experienced accountant to own day-to-day finance across three entities. You will ensure timely accounting, statutory compliance, and monthly/quarterly reporting to the Group CFO while supporting operations and dashboard design.

You will manage end-to-end close cycles, coordinate audits, and provide strategic financial insights. The role requires 2–4 years’ experience, strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge, and cross‑border exposure.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in a similar role.
• BCom Accounting or equivalent.
• Expertise in multi-entity financial consolidation and intercompany reconciliations.
• Experience managing end-to-end statutory audits and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance.

Responsibilities

• Process all transactions (AP, AR, GL, bank, intercompany) for three entities.

• Perform bank, credit card, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset register; post depreciation and amortisation.
• Manage cash position; prepare rolling cash flow forecast and flag funding needs.
• Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) per entity and consolidated, with variance commentary.
• Prepare, review, and submit VAT/indirect tax returns for the three entities.
• Lead annual close for all three entities and coordinate external audits.

Job description

Our client is one of the largest distributors in the Energy sector who is looking for an accountant in Cape Town, who will report to the Group CFO to own the day-to-day finance function for 3 entities (Europe, Africa, local manufacturing). The successful candidate will ensure timely, accurate accounting, statutory compliance, and management reporting across all three entities. In parallel, offer and provide operational assistance and expertise to the entity. Additional ad-hoc tasks and responsibilities supplementary to the below may be expected from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly

• Process all transactions (AP, AR, GL, bank, intercompany) in the system for all three entities.
• Reconcile intercompany positions across all three entities and eliminate consolidation transactions.
• Perform bank, credit card, payroll, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset register; post depreciation and amortisation.
• Manage cash position; prepare rolling cash flow forecast and flag funding needs.
• Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) per entity and consolidated, with variance commentary vs. budget and prior month.
• Prepare, review, and submit VAT / indirect tax returns for the three entities.
• Close the books to the agreed monthly deadline and circulate a reporting pack to the Group CFO for review.

Quarterly

• Produce consolidated quarterly reporting pack for the Group CFO and board, including KPIs and commentary.
• Re-forecast remainder of year; refresh cash flow projections and covenant tracking.
• Perform full balance sheet review with sign-off on every reconciliation.
• Coordinate tax provisions, installment payments, and transfer pricing positions across entities.
• Review internal controls and approval matrices; document any process changes.

Annual

• Lead annual close for all three entities.
• Prepare statutory financial statements per entity in line with applicable GAAP / IFRS.
• Manage external audit end-to-end: PBC list, samples, auditor queries, and adjustments.
• Coordinate corporate income tax computations and filings across jurisdictions.
• Lead the annual budgeting cycle with department heads and the Group CFO.
• Annual review of accounting policies, chart of accounts, and finance procedures.
• Oversee insurance renewals and finance-owned supplier contract reviews.

Operational

• Provide on-going operational support with the whole team.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure stock orders are managed and planned in advance.
• Provide knowledge, expertise, and support on the designing of value-add dashboards to analyse data and to assist with decision making.
• Assist with HR-related matters pertaining to the entities under scope.

Requirements

• 2 - 4 years experience within a similar role
• BCom Accounting or equivalent
• Expertise in multi-entity financial consolidation and cross-border intercompany reconciliations. Technical agility to navigate ERP system migrations and design value-add financial dashboards.
• Hands-on operational capability to manage supplier stock orders and assist with broader business functions.
• Comprehensive experience managing end-to-end statutory audits and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance.
