Job summary

Grant Thornton in Chicago offers a Finance Transformation Intern role focused on business process analysis, requirements definition, and cost and cycle-time improvements to support client transformation initiatives.

You will collaborate with Finance Transformation colleagues to design and implement sustainable finance and operations models that meet client needs, with a focus on process optimization and reporting changes.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, Information Systems, or related fields.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Demonstrated digital fluency through the effective use of technology, data, and basic AI technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making.
• Experience in data analysis, including the ability to interpret complex financial datasets, identify trends, and generate actionable insights to support decision-making.
• Ability to analyze and improve financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to perform quantitative analysis and develop business cases.
• Basic understanding of Close-the-books, Chart-of-Accounts, Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis & Financial Benchmarking.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects in a rapidly growing practice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills.
• Positive mindset for learning new concepts.
• Ability to travel to various client sites as needed.
• The willingness and ability to work additional hours, as needed.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Assess client finance operations and processes to identify transformation opportunities aligned with strategic business objectives.
• Support project teams in helping clients work toward their long-term business goals and strategic priorities.
• Assist with analyzing client challenges and contribute to the development of effective solutions.
• Participate in client meetings and support day-to-day project activities and client communications.
• Collaborate with Grant Thornton team members to help identify and address client questions, issues, and needs.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients while contributing to high-quality client service.
• Effectively manage assigned responsibilities and project deliverables while meeting internship expectations.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
