General Purpose

Under immediate (Technician I) or general (Technician II) supervision, the Finance Technician performs a variety of technical accounting support and administrative duties, including processing and maintaining financial records in areas such as accounts payable, receivable, payroll, capital assets, inventory, remittance, cashiering, and cash balancing.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Finance Technician I: Entry-level, learning routine tasks with close supervision, progressing to more complex duties as skills develop.

Finance Technician II: Fully qualified, working independently, performing the full range of duties with minimal supervision, exercising judgment and initiative.

Supervision

Receives supervision from management; exercises no supervision over staff. A higher level (Technician III) may provide training and technical guidance.
