Job summary

Habitat for Humanity Buffalo is seeking a Finance Support Specialist to handle day-to-day bookkeeping under the CFO. This entry-level, full-time role welcomes someone with basic accounting knowledge and strong attention to detail to grow within a mission-driven nonprofit.

You will enter transactions, assist with AP/AR, maintain records, and help with reconciliations and basic reporting for leadership. A supportive team and opportunities to learn are offered.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with basic accounting knowledge; bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.
• Able to work under supervision and maintain confidentiality.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Enter transactions in QuickBooks timely and accurately.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable and process invoices.
• Maintain organized vendor, customer, payment and financial records.
• Prepare basic reports from QuickBooks for CFO and leadership.
• Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations and month-end close tasks.
• Support audits, tax filings, budget review and grant reporting.
• Communicate with staff, vendors and volunteers to gather information.
• Provide general office support, including data entry and filing.
• Follow finance procedures and keep records accurate and confidential.
• Participate in meetings and trainings and engage with Habitat Buffalo's programs.
