Job summary

New York Life Direct is seeking a Finance Intern to join the Summer Internship program in Tampa, FL. The role offers hands-on exposure to financial reporting, analysis, and controls within a cross‑functional team and senior leaders.

From June to August, you will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, support management reporting, and identify process improvements while benefiting from mentorship, networking events, and professional development workshops.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field at an accredited 4-year college or university
• Demonstrated leadership or meaningful involvement in campus or community activities

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
• Research, document, and resolve account variances and discrepancies
• Compile and review monthly and quarterly financial documentation
• Utilize administrative and financial systems to research account differences, identify errors, and support testing of new products or system changes
• Support internal and external financial requests, management reporting, and ad hoc analyses
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end close activities while ensuring strong financial controls
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
• Participate in case studies, special projects, and a final presentation
• Engage in professional development workshops, networking events, and fireside chats with senior leaders
