Job summary

The University of Chicago BSD AFA - Accounting department seeks a senior finance professional to lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy for the department. The role collaborates with the Senior Director and chair to manage operating budgets and physician compensation programs.

You will monitor financial performance, prepare proformas, and provide analytical support for strategic initiatives across operations, clinical, research, and education. Experience with Epic/Oracle is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Minimum 7+ years of work experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial planning.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred; higher education/healthcare experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements budgets and operating plans for the department.
• Prepares daily, monthly, and ad-hoc financial reports and dashboards; analyzes variances.
• Oversees monthly close, journal entries, accruals, and financial controls.
• Designs and manages physician compensation programs and tracks performance metrics.
• Provides financial guidance to section administrators, leaders, and chairs.
• Supervises staff and coordinates budgeting processes across units.
