Job summary

Oakwood Village is seeking a seasoned payroll professional to join our Finance team in Madison. The role reports to the Controller and oversees payroll processing, benefit deductions, and related regulatory submissions.

You will manage payroll data, collaborate with Human Resources, and contribute to automation initiatives to improve accuracy and efficiency. A strong foundation in GAAP, confidentiality, and problem-solving is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Manages payroll workload. Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner.
  • Act as administrator of payroll software including management of employee information.
  • Collaborates effectively with Human Resources.
  • Processes and remits benefit deductions within payroll system and with third party vendors (insurance, FSA, 403(b), etc.).
  • Prepares and/or submits reports for compliance requirements.
  • Prepares payroll journal entries and reconciles correlating general ledger accounts.
  • Monitors accuracy and timeliness of payroll service provider tax filings, wage attachments, and garnishments.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures and payroll-related training.
  • Contribute to special projects and create efficiencies through automation.

This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for payroll, regulatory submissions, and financial analysis projects.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING
  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Accounting with 7+ years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other data applications; advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
