Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day multi-state payroll operations.
  • Help manage projects related to payroll; establish objectives, create plans, and review gaps throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and verify timekeeping to ensure submissions prior to payroll processing.
  • Serve as a resource to employees and clients regarding payroll operations.
  • Stay current on payroll practices and compliance and share knowledge accordingly.
  • Update and verify payroll verification spreadsheets for accurate reporting.
  • Assist with payroll communications and ensure message content is aligned with tailored communication plans.
  • Administer payroll processes bi-weekly and handle off-cycle payrolls as needed.
  • Support the personal expense program; ensure processes are followed.
  • Ensure payroll and HRIS comply with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Maintain electronic employee payroll files and department payroll files.
  • Assist with other Employee Services team tasks as assigned.
  • Compile information and prepare reports for firms and the Employee Services team.

Job description

The Payroll Analyst ensures the effective and efficient administration of payroll services for the firms we serve and fosters an environment of timely, high-quality customer service as well as accurate processing and recording of all firms’ payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Responsibilities include organizing, planning and managing inter-disciplinary payroll projects for the Employee Services Team. As well as the execution of day-to-day payroll administration, data entry associated with payroll, timesheet management and data integrity. This position provides customer service to staff, external customers and vendors.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supportthe day-to-day multi-state payroll operations.
  • Help manage projects related to payroll; establish business objectives, create and communicate project charters and plans, and evaluate and review gaps throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and verify timekeeping system to ensure all employees have submitted time prior to starting payroll processing.
  • Serves as a resource to employees and clients regarding payroll operations.
  • Stay current on payroll practices and legal compliance and share knowledge accordingly.
  • Update and verify payroll verification spreadsheets to ensure accurate reporting of information.
  • Assist with all payroll communications, while partnering with our clients to ensure message content and delivery are aligned with consistent, tailored communication plans.
  • Administer payroll processes on a bi-weekly basis and on an as needed basis for off-cycle payrolls while working closely with the Finance and Employee Services teams to ensure that payroll is carried out accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Support the personal expense program to ensure that processes are being followed.
  • Ensure payroll process and the HRIS are administered under appropriate federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Maintain electronic employee payroll files and the department payroll files with all necessary documentation.
  • Assist with other Employee Service team tasks as assigned.
  • Compile information and prepare reports (monthly & ad-hoc requests) for firms and the Employee Services team as needed.
  • Assist with shared email inbox

Work Location: Hybrid (Madison, WI). Employees are expected to work onsite four days per week, with one approved remote workday per week.

Education and Experience:
  • 3-5 years’ experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices
  • Knowledge of current Labor Law regulations and Wage and Hour compliance is required
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
  • Dayforce Experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • High degree of professionalism, accuracy and detail orientation
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and customer service skills to resolve outstanding payroll issues quickly and accurately
  • Ability to handle confidential information on a daily basis
  • Demonstrated success with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Knowledge of payroll principles and government reporting requirements including related federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and familiarity with payroll software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments at one time while maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent data entry skills; efficient and accurate
