Job summary

The City of New York is seeking an experienced Deputy Director of Financial Operations within the Information Technology Bureau to oversee end-to-end accounts payable, manage staff, drive process improvements, and ensure accurate financial reporting across $250M expenses and $400M capital budgets.

Qualifications

• Master's degree and 18 months in executive/managerial capacity with supervisory responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree with four years of professional experience in budget/financial administration, incl. 18 months in supervisory role.
• Associate degree with six years of related professional experience, incl. supervisory experience.
• High school diploma with eight years of related professional experience, incl. supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end accounts payable operations and timely processing of all contract payments per directives and policies.
• Lead and mentor a team; provide direction and ongoing training to improve performance.
• Drive process improvements, including transitioning payments into PASSPort; ensure compliance and reporting accuracy.
• Conduct monthly and year-end closings; supervise reconciliations and accruals.

Education

Master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, public health, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree

Bachelor's degree with four years professional experience in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal management (including 18 months supervisory)

Associate degree or 60 semester credits with six years of related experience including 18 months in supervisory role

High school diploma with eight years of related experience including 18 months in supervisory role
