Job summary

WSP is seeking a Finance Manager to lead general accounting and financial activities for a client project based in Winston-Salem, NC, with options to sit in Raleigh, Durham, or Rocky Mount, NC.

You will direct reconciliation, reporting, and audits, while driving process improvements and internal controls. The role supervises 1–3 accounting staff and requires strong communication and supervisory skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Active CPA license preferred but not required.
• Five years of financial and accounting experience including management in a GAAP, high-volume processing environment.
• Experience with tolling back-office systems preferred.
• Ability to package and present quantitative data effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop accounting SOPs including internal controls.
• Monitor activities of accounting staff and processes.
• Oversee accounting systems and procedures updates.
• Oversee payables and refunds.
• Prepare journal entries and financial reporting.
• Manage monthly/quarterly/annual reconciliations.
• Evaluate back-office software for efficiency improvements.
• Ensure key performance measures are achieved.
• Attend client and internal project meetings.
• Interface with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and auditors.
• Oversee inventory audits and SOC 1 Type II audits.
• Stay current on GAAP, GASB, and accounting standards.
