The Lutheran Episcopal Volunteer Network - Episcopal Service Corps Davis, CA is seeking a Finance Manager / Controller to lead the accounting function and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. You will own the close cycle, budgets, and internal controls in a hybrid/remote setting across multiple US locations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in accounting and finance with progressive responsibilities.
• 2+ years in people management or supervising a team.
• CPA/CMA/CFA certification or actively pursuing.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS reporting.
• Hands-on with ERP systems and financial reporting.

Responsabilités

• Oversee day-to-day accounting across general ledger, A/R, A/P, billing, payroll accounting, cost accounting, inventory, and revenue recognition.
• Prepare and publish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS; write variance analysis and management commentary.
• Own and shorten month-end and year-end close cycle; maintain close checklists and account reconciliations.
• Lead the annual budget process and rolling forecasts; partner with department heads on spend planning and tracking.
• Design, document, and maintain internal controls; ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax filings and regulatory reporting; coordinate with external tax advisors.
• Serve as the primary liaison to external auditors; prepare schedules, resolve findings, and drive remediation.
• Monitor cash flow, forecasts, and banking relationships.
• Set goals and conduct performance reviews.
• Drive automation and process improvements within the ERP; identify and implement efficiencies.
• Provide financial analysis for pricing, capital investments, and business decisions; support board and investor reporting as needed.

The role

The Finance Manager / Controller is the senior accounting and financial reporting leader responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all financial information. You'll own the close cycle, financial statements, internal controls, audit readiness, and the annual budget and forecast — and you'll lead the accounting team day to day. Success here is measured by clean, timely closes, audit outcomes, forecast accuracy, and a tight controls environment.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 2+ years managing a team.
• CPA, CMA, or CFA certification (or actively pursuing).
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
• Hands-on experience with an ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills — pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling.
• Sharp analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financials clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
