Job summary

We Search People is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to lead the financial operations for a premier luxury homebuilder based in Houston, TX. You will own day-to-day activities, from invoicing and payroll to subcontractor compliance and coordinating with legal counsel.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage client invoicing, drawings, AP/AR, and payroll while ensuring compliance with labor laws. This is a growth-focused role with substantial influence over financial strategy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience within residential construction or luxury homebuilding.
• Strong understanding of construction job costing, draw schedules and project-based billing.
• Payroll processing experience.
• Confident communicator with vendors, trade partners and legal counsel.

Responsibilities

• Manage all client invoicing and draw schedules across active projects.
• Oversee AP/AR including subcontractor/vendor invoice review and payment processing.
• Process payroll for field and office staff with compliance to labour regulations.
• Serve as the primary financial liaison between the company and its subcontractor and vendor base.
• Ensure all subcontractors maintain current insurance certificates, licenses, and compliance documentation.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the company and outside legal counsel on contract matters, disputes, lien releases, and project-related legal issues.
• Maintain organised records of all contracts, amendments, and legal correspondence.

We are working with a premier award-winning luxury home builder, recognised nationally for design excellence, craftsmanship, and innovation. As they continue to scale, they are looking for a detail-orientated, commercially minded and hands on Finance Manager.

This is a hands-on finance leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. You will own the day-to-day financial operations of the business including invoicing and payroll through to subcontractor compliance and legal coordination.

About the role:

• Manage all client invoicing and draw schedules across active projects — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with contract terms
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable including subcontractor and vendor invoice review, approval workflows, and payment processing
• Process and manage payroll for field and office staff including compliance with applicable labour regulations
• Serve as the primary financial liaison between the company and its subcontractor and vendor base
• Ensure all subcontractors maintain current insurance certificates, licenses, and compliance documentation
• Act as the primary point of contact between the company and outside legal counsel on contract matters, disputes, lien releases, and project-related legal issues
• Maintain organised records of all contracts, amendments, and legal correspondence

What we are looking for:

• Strong understanding of construction job costing, draw schedules, and project-based billing
• Payroll processing experience
• Confident communicator to represent the company professionally with vendors, trade partners and legal counsel
• Familiarity with construction accounting software
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
