Job description

Location: Houston, TX | North & West Houston
Salary: $115,000–$130,000 DOE + Project Bonuses

About the Opportunity

We're recruiting for an established, family-owned luxury custom home builder with more than 40 years of experience and nearly 400 homes built throughout the Houston area. The company has built its reputation on exceptional craftsmanship, strong client relationships, and a commitment to quality, with no detail overlooked.

They are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to take ownership of high-end custom homes from the early stages of construction through completion and warranty. This is a hybrid PM/field role for a true custom-home builder who can manage the details of a project while remaining hands‑on in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Manage luxury custom home projects from start to finish, including post‑completion warranty needs.
  • Oversee subcontractors, schedules, materials, quality control, and daily site activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners, architects, designers, and vendors.
  • Manage RFIs, selections, change orders, punch lists, and project documentation.
  • Build and maintain detailed project schedules and proactively plan several steps ahead.
  • Identify and resolve potential issues before they impact the project.
  • Communicate consistently with clients and maintain thorough, organized project records and notes.
  • Use JobTread and other technology to manage schedules, budgets, photos, documentation, and communication.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite throughout construction.
  • Be willing to step in and handle the small details that keep a luxury project moving—from coordinating drawer pulls and toilet cleaning to sweeping streets, backing up crews, and supporting trades when needed.
  • Occasionally manage substantial renovation/remodel projects.
Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years of true custom residential construction experience.
  • Experience managing luxury custom homes.
  • Strong understanding of both construction and project management.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and note‑taking skills.
  • Extremely thorough, detail‑oriented, and quality‑driven.
  • Highly proactive with the ability to anticipate what needs to happen several steps ahead.
  • Comfortable working directly with homeowners, architects, designers, and vendors.
  • Technologically capable and comfortable with project management software.
  • Hands‑on and willing to be in the field daily.
  • Coachable, accountable, and able to adapt to established company processes.
  • Willing to travel between North and West/Southwest Houston job sites.
  • Willing to take ownership of both the major construction responsibilities and the smaller day‑to‑day details required to deliver an exceptional finished product.
  • Gas and cell phone allowance
  • 401(k)
  • Health insurance
  • Family‑oriented culture with an emphasis on work‑life balance
  • Opportunity to build some of Houston's most distinctive luxury homes
Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to join a highly experienced team that takes tremendous pride in the homes they build. The company combines decades of experience with a forward‑thinking approach to building science, home performance, technology, and advanced construction techniques.

If you're a seasoned custom-home builder who wants real ownership of your projects, values craftsmanship, is exceptionally thorough, and enjoys working in a close‑knit environment where quality matters more than volume, this could be an excellent fit.
