Job summary

Black Desert Resort in Southern Utah seeks an Assistant Director of Finance to lead daily accounting and financial operations, partner with department heads, and promote fiscal stewardship across the resort.

You will oversee general ledger, month-end close, budgeting, forecasts, internal controls, audits, tax reporting, and system enhancements while mentoring the finance team and driving continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
• Minimum of five years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience, preferably in luxury hospitality.
• Strong understanding of hotel accounting, USALI, and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Area Director of Finance in managing all daily accounting and finance operations for the resort.
• Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop Finance team members with accountability and continuous improvement.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and journal entries.
• Review and analyze monthly financial statements, operating results, forecasts, and variance reports.
• Assist with annual operating budgets, capital budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, policies, controls, and regulations.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, Cash Management, and Fixed Asset accounting.
• Review and approve reconciliations, financial transactions, and balance sheet schedules.
• Partner with operations to analyze labor costs, revenue trends, and profitability opportunities.
