Job summary

CFS in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking an onsite finance leader to oversee daily operations and supervise a small finance team. The role collaborates with senior finance leadership across the general ledger, month-end close, billing, revenue tracking, and audit support.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance with nonprofit accounting experience and supervisory responsibilities; Sage 300 and advanced Excel skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
• Nonprofit accounting and finance experience (required).
• Progressive accounting or finance experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, AP/AR, and financial reporting.
• Sage 300 experience (preferred).
• Advanced Excel skills and experience supporting audits and financial analysis (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily finance operations and supervise Accounts Payable and Billing team members.
• Manage general ledger activity, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Monitor billing, accounts receivable, contract activity, and revenue tracking to support accuracy and timely reporting.
• Assist with audit preparation by supporting schedules and financial documentation.
• Prepare financial reports, analyses, and reconciliations while partnering with senior finance leadership.
• Complete ad hoc tasks and projects as requested.
