Job summary

Richmond Luxury Hotel in Richmond, VA, is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Finance to join its leadership team. This role offers relocation assistance and a strong benefits package within a well-regarded hotel organization.

The position requires 4–5 years of accounting experience in hospitality, a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance (or related field), and expertise in Excel, payroll, and month-end close.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of accounting experience in hotels or resorts.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of hotel accounting processes, financial controls, payroll, and cash management.
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end closing.
• Ability to work occasional weekends based on month-end closing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Director of Finance to oversee day-to-day hotel accounting operations.
• Support accounting functions including payroll, cash handling, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, credit and collections.
• Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Help ensure an accurate and timely month-end close.
• Assist in producing accurate financial statements in partnership with department leaders.
• Audit bank activity, reconcile accounts, and follow up on cash over/short discrepancies.
• Maintain proper accounting documentation and filing procedures.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Train and support accounting team members in their respective responsibilities.
• Work closely with hotel departments to resolve accounting, systems, and controls-related issues.
• Provide responsive, professional support to internal departments and hotel guests.
