Job summary

RL Canning, Inc. is seeking an experienced Financial Patient Accounting Analyst (Cerner) to join our IT team in Chicago.

This role focuses on optimizing and maintaining health care revenue cycle systems, ensuring smooth integration, and implementing solutions that improve billing and reimbursement processes. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in systems analysis with a healthcare revenue cycle focus, strong HIPAA/CMS knowledge, and experience with EHR/HIS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, HIM, BA or related field.
• At least 5 years in systems analysis with healthcare revenue cycle focus.
• Strong knowledge of revenue cycle processes: billing, claims, reimbursement.
• Familiar with HIPAA, CMS regulations and healthcare IT standards.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Certifications in Health IT or Revenue Cycle (e.g., CPAR, RHIA) preferred.
• Willingness to travel to support client projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with IT, clinical, financial, and operations teams to design and implement revenue cycle system solutions.
• Oversee analysis, documentation, and modification of revenue cycle processes in existing systems.
• Serve as primary contact for troubleshooting to minimize disruptions.
• Perform data analysis and create reports to identify trends and improvements.
• Evaluate and recommend new system technologies to enhance efficiency.
• Monitor system performance and manage deployments related to billing, coding, and reimbursements.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS and industry standards.
• Provide regular status updates to senior management on timelines and KPIs.
• Perform additional tasks to support business objectives.
