Job summary

WD is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the Product & Engineering finance function in Irvine. You will own end-to-end budgeting and analysis, partnering with senior leaders to enable timely, data-driven decisions.

You will manage a team of 5 financial analysts, drive OpEx, CapEx and headcount planning, and deliver concise executive reports on R&D spend and risks. This exempt role offers a broad, influential scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; MBA/CFA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive FP&A experience, with experience supporting R&D, Product, Engineering or technology organizations.
• Strong experience in spend management, workforce planning, forecasting, AOP/LRP, and financial modeling.
• High level of business acumen with analytical and process-improvement capabilities.
• Exceptional communication and executive presence for storytelling to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary finance partner for Product & Engineering budget management.
• Translate business and product strategies into financial plans with product group executives.
• Lead and develop a team of 5 financial analysts.
• Oversee headcount planning, non-labor forecasting, and CapEx reporting.
• Develop concise, executive-level reporting on R&D spend, trends and risks.
• Lead monthly review meetings with VP/SVP level staff of R&D orgs.
• Review and approve month-end journal entries related to service POs.
• Collaborate with operations teams on program-level forecasts.
