Job summary

Hospice of South Texas seeks an experienced Director of Finance to lead the organization’s day-to-day financial operations and support mission-driven care. This executive role reports to the CEO and collaborates with the Interim CFO and leadership to drive financial insight and sustainability.

The leader will oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, revenue cycle, and audits, while strengthening internal controls and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Develop financial projections, analyses, and management tools for Board-level decisions.
• Establish and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, reserve funds, and liquidity.
• Oversee Medicare/Medicaid and private-pay billing and reimbursement processes.
• Monitor revenue-cycle performance, including AR, billing accuracy, timing, and denials.
• Prepare for external audits and CMS/Medicaid reviews.
• Manage agency cost reports, tax filings, and regulatory financial filings.
• Supervise finance staff responsible for AP/AR, payroll, GL, and related functions.
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses for employee benefits and renewals.
• Provide timely financial reporting to executive leadership, Finance Committee, and Board.
• Evaluate workflows and cost drivers for efficiency and financial discipline.
• Identify financial risks, variances, and audit findings; address contingencies.
• Participate in strategic planning and risk management.
• Serve as financial point of contact for auditors, banks, and vendors.
• Support implementation and optimization of financial, payroll, billing, and EHR systems.
• Serve as 401(k) Plan Administrator with fiduciary oversight and reporting.
