Job summary

CooperDouglas Executive Search partners with a California-based construction company to recruit a Director of Finance who will own the full financial function across a multi-project portfolio. The leader will oversee accounting, project finance, and reporting while partnering with executive leadership to drive strategic growth.

Responsibilities include leading accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting, as well as managing project budgets, cost forecasting, and WIP analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA or CPA candidate highly preferred.
• 10+ years of accounting/finance with significant construction exposure.
• Construction/home building/affordable housing experience fast-tracked.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Manage project budgets, job costing, commitments, change orders, and cost forecasting.
• Track project financial performance and drive corrective action on variances.
• Oversee subcontractor billings, pay applications, retainage, and compliance.
• Coordinate construction loan draws and project cash flow.
• Deliver monthly profitability reporting and WIP analysis to leadership.
• Strengthen financial systems, controls, and reporting processes.
