Job summary

Total Comfort Heating & Air is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of our Fredericksburg service center. This role partners with the General Manager to drive financial performance, implement strong internal controls, and support growth in a fast-paced environment.

You will oversee budgets, forecasts, closing processes, and reporting while guiding a local accounting team and ensuring compliance with GAAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of progressive general-accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP or computerized accounting systems; JD Edwards is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and financial-control activities for the service center.
• Partner with the General Manager and department leaders on financial planning and improvement initiatives.
• Oversee operating and capital budgets, financial forecasts, and inventory controls.
• Analyze financial results across various functions and provide variance analysis.
• Establish and maintain internal controls for inventory, purchasing, and labor reporting.
• Coordinate monthly financial statements, rolling forecasts, and capital plans.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures and reconciliations.
• Oversee billing, credit, and collections and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Recruit, develop, and lead the local accounting team.
