Job summary

G.E. Mechanical, LLC is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead the Finance Department, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive accurate monthly closes in New Jersey.

The position offers responsibility for billing, cash flow, and intercompany activities across multi‑jurisdictional projects. The successful candidate will manage WIP, job costing, financial reporting, and regulatory filings while partnering with senior leadership to enable growth and strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction accounting or similar role.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• Construction/Mechanical/Service industry experience with WIP and revenue recognition.
• Multitasking in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills.
• Leadership, analytical and communication skills.
• MS Office proficiency; advanced Excel.
• ERP systems experience; Microsoft Dynamics Business Central preferred.
• Team player.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the Finance Department, setting priorities and accountability.
• First level escalation for Finance operational issues and timely resolution.
• Ensure invoicing, payments, reconciliations, collections and accounting tasks stay on track.
• Own the 5‑business day monthly close with G/L and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare, review and analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Ensure U.S. GAAP compliance, including revenue recognition for projects.
• Own open WIP and job costing, review profitability.
• Review branch results and investigate variances and drivers.
• Escalate billing issues requiring Operations involvement.
• Manage accounts receivable, cash receipts, and aging reports.
• Monitor cash activity and assist with cash forecasting and working capital.
• Manage bid contracts renewals, expirations, and rate changes.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting; handle special projects.
