Job summary

Southwind Foods / Great American Seafood Imports Co. is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and drive process improvements across the ERP ecosystem.

This role partners with the CFO, Credit Manager, FP&A Director, and business leaders to optimize working capital and strengthen internal controls. You will oversee multi-entity close, treasury, cost accounting, insurance, and automation initiatives while developing a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in an accounting leadership role.
• Experience managing monthly close and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing multi-entity consolidations.
• Strong treasury, banking, and cash management experience.
• Experience managing commercial insurance programs and handling claims.
• Manufacturing, food manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-intensive business experience.
• Strong working knowledge of internal controls and accounting process design.
• Experience leading accounting automation and process improvement initiatives desired.
• Experience in a privately held or family-owned business desired.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems. MS Dynamics 365 desirable.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled finance tools and modern accounting technology desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements for multiple operating entities.
• Ensure accurate GAAP-compliant financial reporting and robust general ledger controls.
• Oversee treasury, banking relationships, and cash management.
• Drive process improvements and automation across finance functions.
• Partner with IT and operations to optimize ERP systems and AI tools.
• Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Finance, Sales, and Operations.
