Job summary

Harvard University FAS Human Resources is seeking a Finance Associate to provide foundational financial, transactional, and compliance support for academic departments within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The role reports to the Manager of Financial Operations and involves day-to-day processing, policy adherence, and responding to department needs.

The position is hybrid, requiring 3 days on campus and offers opportunities to develop knowledge of university financial systems and procedures

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years’ related experience (4+ years if no Associate’s degree).
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field desirable.

Responsibilities

• Procurement review: ensure costing accuracy, funding availability, and compliance with competitive bidding requirements.
• Travel and expense processing: reconcile P-Card transactions and review expense reports for required receipts and approvals.
• Accounts receivable & revenue support: gather billing information, record payments, and match to invoices.
• Cash & payment operations: initiate wire transfers and reconcile petty cash according to policy.
• Year-end close: process invoices against open POs and review invoice holds and exceptions.
