Job summary

Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Finance Associate to provide foundational financial, transactional, and compliance support for academic departments and centers. You will report to the Manager of Financial Operations and assist with procurement, travel, accounts receivable, and year-end close tasks.

The role involves hybrid work with 3 days on campus, ensuring adherence to university policies and a commitment to accuracy and service to departments.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years' related experience (4+ years if no Associate's degree).
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field desirable.
• Computer competency requiring spreadsheet and database software required.
• Proficiency with Excel and standard office tools.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Procurement & requisition review, including costing accuracy, funding, and bidding compliance.
• Travel and expense processing, including Concur reconciliation and per diem guidelines.
• Accounts receivable and revenue support, matching payments to invoices, resolving discrepancies.
• Cash and payment operations, including petty cash and foreign payments.
• Year-end close activities: processing invoices, open PO reconciliation, and deposit handling.
