Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a financial support specialist to liaise between the Service Extension department and the Finance department. This role manages bills, invoices, and monthly budget updates while pursuing grants for the division and its locations.

The position supports facility financials at major centers, collaborates with Social Ministries on grants, and serves as Compliance and Training Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, communications, or finance preferred.
  • Experience in grant writing and donor management preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office; Excel and Word required.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise between Service Extension Dept. and the Finance Dept.
  • Receive and document all SE bills for payment.
  • Manage and record invoices from SE Dept for payment.
  • Submit monthly SE budget updates to the Divisional Director.
  • Assist in managing facility financials (360Life Center, Red Shield Center, Thrift Store).
  • Pursue and manage grants for the department with Social Ministries.
  • Manage property projects for Service Extension locations.
  • Serve as Compliance and Training Coordinator for the department.
  • Assist during staff time off as needed.
  • Support volunteers in programs, drives, and communications.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Divisional Director.

Job description

Job Objective: This position will p rovide financial support services for the Service Extension (SE) department and its various service locations, with an emphasis on facilities, personnel, billing, and invoice payments. This individual will serve as a liaison between SE and the Finance Dept at DHQ, and is expected to adhere to policies, practices, and procedures established by the Salvation Army. This individual will also pursue and manage grants for the SE department and its locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the main liaison between Service Extension Dept. and the Finance Dept.
  • Receive & document all bills from SE locations ensuring they are properly recorded and sent to Finance Dept for payment
  • Manage & record invoices from SE Dept to be properly paid
  • Submit monthly SE budget updates to the Divisional Director of Field Development and Service Extension
  • Assist in managing 360Life Center, Red Shield Center, and Thrift Store financials
  • Pursue & manage grants for the department, working with Social Ministries to ensure grants are properly written and submitted before necessary deadlines
  • Manage property projects for Service Extension locations
  • Serve as Compliance and Training Coordinator for the department
  • Assist the Divisional Director of Field Development and Service Extension with duties during staff time off
  • Assist department volunteers in performing tasks including, but not limited to, seasonal programs, funding drives, communications
  • Other duties as assigned by the Divisional Director of Field Development and Service Extension

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, management, communications, and/or finance preferred; relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered

Experience:Business and/or administration, project management, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; volunteer management and team organization preferred; grant writing preferred; donor management software preferred.

Supervisory Duties: None

Physical Requirements:Include speaking, hearing and vision ability; manualdexterity; lifting, pulling and pushing materials up to 25 pounds; bending, squatting, and walking; sitting for extended periods of time; standing for extended periods of time. Travel: Occasional travel throughout the division, average less than 1x month

Driving: Driving is required; must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Working Conditions: Daily work is performed in a typical office environment; may require some weekend and evening work. Event work may include hotels, indoor/outdoor venues, Corps Community Centers, and other public venues.
