Job summary

Peak Performers is seeking Finance and Audit Support Specialists to assist with reconciliations, general ledger, audit schedules, and related financial activities in a public-sector setting. The position operates onsite at City of Rio Communities, NM 87002, with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or related field.
• Public-sector/government experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to research discrepancies and meet deadlines.
• Effective organization and communication skills with confidential financial information.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly and year-end bank, general ledger, fund, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue, and expenditure reconciliations.
• Research discrepancies, document findings, and report unresolved items to the Finance Officer.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for independent audits.
• Monitor budgets, identify variances, and track Budget Adjustment Requests (BARs).
• Assist with payroll liability and PERA contributions reconciliations.
• Review procurement, invoice, payment, travel, and mileage documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Organize and reconcile grant awards, reimbursements, receivables, and capital project expenditures.
• Maintain accurate, organized financial records and electronic files.
• Ensure all work is clearly documented for review by Finance Department staff and auditors.

Major Duties

What Are We Looking For?

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using financial or accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to research discrepancies, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines.
• Effective organization and communication skills with the ability to manage confidential financial information.

• Rate: $29.50/hour
• Contract: October 2026 - January 2027; possibility of extension
