Finance and Actuarial Information Management Assistant

Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Finance and Actuarial Information Management Assistant!


The Actuarial Info Management Assistant will review, monitor, resolve and respond to regulatory data requirements for the company’s policies, products and services with state insurance departments and other regulatory entities. They will assist with the corporate assessment process by gathering, validating and allocating expenses, and supporting related accounting and data functions. This role will also provide support to the Actuarial department on various data and systems initiatives which include system maintenance, administrative system change design, and championing Actuarial’s priorities in connection with the corporate data warehouse. They will help support Actuarial data and systems projects and provide effective and efficient data for analysis. This role possesses basic product, system and programming knowledge that helps support various reporting and system needs. This position can report to the Supervisor, Manager or Director of Product Configuration or Actuarial Info Management.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Establishes foundational knowledge of software and source system applications. Learns how to locate, query, extract, manipulate, and reconcile data.

Develops basic knowledge of programming and coding in supported software platform. Assists with researching and fact finding to develop or modify information systems. Codes, tests, debug, documents and maintains programs.

Assist in the development of well-defined user specifications following departmental documentation standards.

Learns how to accurately produce details and requirements needed for internal and external (Finance, Accounting, Regulatory, State DOIs) requests and reports by following specifications in place.

Assist in documenting requirements for new product installations, new client installations, and client maintenance related to actuarial processes (Pricing and Reserving).

Assist in month-end GL Financial close process (Reserving).

Assist in completing Credit Insurance Experience Exhibits (CIEE).

Assist in preparation of Credit Related Rate and Experience Filings.

Perform analysis at manager’s request for new states’ regulatory requirements

Learn various data modeling practices to support Actuarial & Data Analytics projects.

Proactively works to build strong relationships with peers, manager, and internal areas.

Is able to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines and prioritizes.

Actively manages self-development. Seeks knowledge & skills from team and other resources to accomplish goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Business, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or Statistics

2 years or less of overall professional experience

Basic proficiency in MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint. Basic to Intermediate proficiency to various data repository platforms (SAS/SQL/etc.).

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
