Job summary

CFS in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager for a hybrid, nonprofit environment. The role oversees day-to-day accounting, grants and government contracts, budgeting, and internal controls to support fiscal health and sustainability.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in nonprofit finance, GAAP knowledge, and experience coordinating audits and Form 990 filings. Bachelor’s degree required; CPA or related credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with grants, government contracts, and/or multiple funding sources.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting.
• Audit and budgeting experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and provide budget-to-actual analysis.
• Manage financial aspects of grants and government contracts, including billing, reimbursements, reporting, and tracking.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, funding requirements, and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Coordinate annual audits and assist with Form 990 and other regulatory filings.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes.
• Partner with executive and program leadership on financial planning and decision-making.
• Supervise accounting staff and external financial partners as needed.
