Operations Manager – Final Mile Delivery

Location: Tracy, CA.

Overview

The Operations Manager – Final Mile Delivery oversees and optimizes last‑mile logistics operations, ensuring on‑time, cost‑effective delivery while maintaining high service standards. The role requires managing delivery operations, third‑party logistics providers, and leading continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop associates; oversee labor scheduling, shift planning, and attendance tracking.
• Monitor employee productivity and operational efficiency, identifying and addressing performance gaps.
• Conduct safety meetings, training, and compliance audits to maintain workplace safety.
• Build and maintain relationships with third‑party delivery partners and company employees.
• Oversee daily final‑mile operations, ensuring efficiency, cost control, and adherence to performance metrics.
• Manage route optimization strategies and conduct weekly performance reviews of third‑party partners.
• Drive a customer‑centric culture by improving delivery timeliness, reducing damages, and managing escalations.
• Oversee warehouse maintenance and comply with OSHA regulations and safety policies.
• Maintain inventory control processes and ensure accurate shipment tracking.
• Develop contingency plans for seasonal demand, weather disruptions, and logistical challenges.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with 3–5 years of relevant distribution or manufacturing management experience.
• Alternatively, 6–8 years of progressively responsible distribution leadership experience.
• On‑site, in‑office role.
• Data‑driven mindset with expertise in cost control and operational efficiency.
• Ability to lead and coach an hourly employee team.
• Strong communication skills and customer relations aptitude.
• Highly organized and process‑oriented, with ability to complete tasks on time.
• Adaptability to changing business requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI reporting.

Preferred

• Six Sigma Black Belt or lean manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of final‑mile delivery models, including white‑glove and same‑day or multi‑day routing.
• Exposure to furniture manufacturing, distribution, or big‑box distribution.
• Experience with final‑mile carrier contract negotiations or procurement.
• Expertise in OSHA standards and safety.

Physical Requirements

• Stand, walk, talk, and hear while performing duties.
• Lift or carry heavy objects up to 50–100 pounds.
