LAC Federal seeks detail-oriented Film Archiving Technicians in Culpeper, VA to preserve and organize historical film collections. You will inspect, document, rehouse, barcode, and inventory materials, ensuring accurate audiovisual metadata and quality control for long-term storage.

Work closely with the Film Archivist and agency staff, handling 16mm and 35mm formats, and contributing to workflow improvements while adhering to security and access requirements.

Qualifications

• At least six months of experience in a library or archives environment performing similar tasks.
• Demonstrated expertise in motion-picture film identification, handling, and inspection.
• Knowledge of archival principles for analysis, organization, and description of materials.
• Ability to identify preservation concerns and perform basic preservation activities.

Responsabilités

• Process priority motion-picture collections according to approved processing plans and standards.
• Inspect 16mm and 35mm film to identify titles, reel numbers, and episodes.
• Document film elements and related production items.
• Examine incompletely labeled materials and consult staff as needed.
• Assess film condition and elevate materials requiring specialized treatment.
• Rehouse films in archival-quality containers and rotate storage per procedures.
• Enter accurate inventory and metadata into agency systems with correct fields.
• Apply barcodes and reconcile identifiers with inventory records.
