Job summary

AT&T is seeking a Machine Operator in Raleigh, North Carolina to install and maintain fiber and copper services in the field. You will operate trenching and related equipment, coordinate with customers and agencies, and perform repairs and reconnects while adhering to safety standards.

You will work a 40‑hour week with overtime and holiday requirements, and receive extensive training and benefits. Expect outdoor work in varying weather and potential regional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to work Monday–Friday with an 8‑hour shift.
• Willingness to work mandatory overtime and holidays.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
• Ability to operate multiple types of machines and tools.
• Lift and move up to 120 pounds.
• Use handheld devices to update work status.
• Hold a CDL or equivalent where required by state law and be able to drive manual shift in some assignments.
• Maintain a DOT medical card.
• Complete on‑the‑job and/or classroom training.
• Demonstrate competency during probationary period.
• Previous operating experience with similar equipment desirable.
• Perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• May require travel outside region/state.

Responsibilities

• Locate buried facilities near the route of service wire and operate related vehicle and equipment.
• Coordinate with customers, utilities, and agencies to install, repair, maintain and reconnect services.
• Perform manual excavation with shovel and light equipment.
• Provide repairs to low voltage utilities and sprinkler systems; temporary repairs as needed.
• Conduct routine maintenance and non‑complex repairs on equipment.
• Read and follow simple instructions and safety procedures.
