Job summary

Basin Electric Power Cooperative seeks a Field Maintenance Technician (Level DOE) - Weld Shop at the Dakota Gasification Company site in Beulah, ND. The role focuses on performing critical and routine welding to fabricate or repair plant machinery in accordance with ASME codes.

Responsibilities include weld repairs (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW), equipment maintenance, and reading blueprints. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications and may work rotating shifts; a valid driver’s license is

Qualifications

Completion of a two-year welding program or qualified apprenticeship.
High school diploma or GED with 2 years welding experience.
Must pass two welding tests: TIG root and 7018 fill on 6” carbon steel pipe (6-G) and 5-P root with 7018 fill (6-G).
May be required to work rotating shifts.
Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Perform weld repairs using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW on carbon and stainless plate/pipe per ASME codes.
Maintain equipment and operate holing and lifting devices.
Read piping and structural blueprints to plan work.
Ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition.
Operate hoists, man lifts, forklifts, weld trucks, and portable welders as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
