Job summary

UES is hiring a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to ensure the quality and integrity of welded structures in field and shop environments. You will inspect, verify standards compliance, and collaborate with engineers to uphold welding best practices.

This role requires traveling up to 70% of the time, reading blueprints, and documenting findings for clients and project teams. AWS certification is preferred; a valid driver’s license and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with welding certificate program.
• AWS welding certification or similar preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and basic computer literacy.
• Knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Willingness to adapt to changing schedules and hours.
• Strong time management, math skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine field inspections of welded structures.
• Verify compliance with codes and project specifications.
• Read maps, blueprints, and engineering plans.
• Understand structural masonry code and job specification compliance.
• Determine pre-stressed and post-tension tendons and reinforcing code compliance.
• Inspect soil, concrete, asphalt, steel and/or wood framing.
• Document field activity and report findings to clients and supervisors.
• Communicate with site contractors and project managers.
• Prepare accurate field-testing reports daily.
• Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements.
• Travel to job sites and maintain vehicle safety.
