Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Specialty Technician I to join our Baton Rouge team. The role involves field-based destructive and non-destructive testing, inspection, and observation to support specialty construction materials testing projects, including structural steel inspections and welding observations.

Under supervision, you will develop technical competency in specialty testing methods, maintain customer service, and align with ECS Core Values while coordinating with project staff and field

Qualifications

• 2 years of related experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two specialty certifications applicable to the work.
• OSHA 10 may be required.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Basic math and data documentation skills.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and instructions.
• Proficiency with electronic devices and field reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs destructive and non-destructive testing on construction materials.
• Inspects structural steel, reinforcing steel, and connections (welded and bolted).
• Performs field observations and collects samples for testing.
• Documents findings per engineering and inspection standards.
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Reports changes in site conditions and additional testing needs.
• Prepares and submits daily field reports and documentation.
• Maintains and organizes field testing equipment.
• Attends project meetings as requested.
• Performs other specialty testing and inspection duties as assigned.
