Job summary

Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, DPC in Old Saybrook, CT is seeking a full-time Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to monitor fabrication and construction activities on a daily basis, inspect welds and structural steel, and verify compliance with project plans and codes.

Responsibilities include reviewing welding procedures, documenting inspection findings, preparing Daily Field Reports, and communicating deficiencies to project managers and clients.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• AWS CWI certification and ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector required.
• Experience with structural steel and bolting inspections per project specs and standards.
• Ability to read plans and specifications; perform basic computations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license and vehicle for site inspections.

Responsibilities

• Travel to project sites daily and monitor fabrication and construction activities.
• Perform welding, structural steel inspections and witness NDT as required.
• Prepare Daily Field Reports and communicate deficiencies to PMs, contractors, fabricators or client representatives.
• Interpret drawings and documents related to the project.
• Coordinate with client representatives and other stakeholders.
