Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking multiple Utility Locators to join our field team in Minnesota. No prior locating experience is required as training is provided, and you will learn to locate and mark underground utilities safely.

These full-time daytime roles require physical stamina, outdoor work in all weather, and willingness to work overtime and weekends. You will use APWA color codes, read maps, and maintain records while ensuring safety and accuracy on every project.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 21+ years old due to driver policy.
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather.
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Prior utility locating experience is a plus; training provided.
• Ability to read maps and follow APWA color codes.

Responsibilities

• Respond to locate requests within legal time limits.
• Mark utilities using APWA color codes.
• Read utility maps to identify size/type of underground lines.
• Complete paperwork for locates and line crossings/excavations.
• Operate electronic locating equipment.
• Attend daily safety meetings and report documentation.
• Be available for on-call rotation.
• Prepare records and reports in a timely manner.
