Lake Superior Consulting, LLC is seeking a Utility Locate Technician for Project Teams in the Minneapolis area. This full-time field role involves locating and marking underground utilities, reading plans, coordinating with multiple crews, and adhering to safety standards in varying weather conditions.

Training is provided for those with no prior locating experience. The position requires physical endurance, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to work overtime and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old
• High School Diploma required
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs
• Overtime and weekend availability
• On-call rotation availability
• Prior locating experience is a plus; training provided
• Valid driver’s license with clean record
• Capable of operating a company vehicle and tools
• Comfortable in confined spaces
• Ability to distinguish colors for wiring identification
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to safety and quality service
• Proficient with laptop and cell phone

Responsibilities

• Respond to locate requests within legal time limits
• Mark utilities using APWA color codes
• Read plans to identify size/type of underground utilities
• Coordinate with crews, subcontractors, inspectors
• Operate locating equipment and document results
• Complete paperwork and logs for locates and line crossings
• Maintain safety guidelines and procedures
• Communicate scope and responsibilities within teams
• Complete and maintain operator qualifications
• Be available for on-call rotations
• Report incidents and opportunities for improvement
• Gather data and report promptly
