Job summary

City of Tyler is seeking a qualified locator to protect and mark utilities infrastructure. The role involves locating water and sewer mains, services, hydrants, valves, and manholes, with documentation and photography of each locate.

You will drive light trucks and use laptops/tablets for reporting, and respond to emergency locate requests. The position requires an Associate's degree and TCEQ Class C Water Distribution License (or ability to obtain within one year).

Qualifications

• Must have an Associate's degree and over three years of experience in repair/construction or locating water/sewer mains.
• Must have over seven years of relevant experience to be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Must possess or obtain a TCEQ Class C Water Distribution License within one year; Class B licenses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Locate, identify, and mark utilities infrastructure accurately and safely.
• Search for water/wastewater mains, services, hydrants, valves, and manholes and document locations.
• Respond to emergency locate requests for sewer and water mains.
• Operate light trucks/equipment and document using laptops/tablets.
