Job summary

City of Grapevine is seeking a utility locate technician responsible for accurately marking water, wastewater, and fiber optic infrastructure in the field. You will read blueprints, maintain records, and coordinate with contractors.

The role involves operating hydraulic equipment and entering data into the mapping and CMMS systems. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED, at least six months of line-locating experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED required; six months line-locating experience and two years manual labor with hydraulic equipment preferred.
  • Must pass background check and possess valid Texas driver's license; CDL within one year may be required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Locates and marks water mains, sewer mains, services, and fiber lines for various stakeholders.
  • Reads blueprints and plans identifying city infrastructure.
  • Keeps accurate records and responds to Texas811 locate requests.
  • Operates locating equipment and performs maintenance on related systems.
  • Communicates conflicts and coordinates with supervisor and contractors.
