Job summary

New Braunfels Chamber is seeking an Electric Utility Locate Technician responsible for locating underground facilities, including electric systems, in roadways and on private property using company equipment. The role requires driving a company vehicle, working outdoors, and operating independently.

You will read maps, GIS, and engineering documents, document excavation notices on a field laptop, and communicate with excavators and utility personnel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One or more years of work experience required.
• Texas Driver’s License required.
• Completion of locator training program and testing required.
• Availability after normal hours and occasional weekends/holidays.
• Experience with NBU’s Electric System is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities accurately using provided equipment.
• Search for utilities using all resources.
• Read and interpret maps, GIS, and records to identify utilities.
• Use field laptop to document excavation notices.
• Coordinate with excavators and utility personnel on projects.
• Open and close energized equipment; work around energized conductors.
• Maintain a safe work area and adhere to safety guidelines.
• Drive a company vehicle and work outdoors.
