Job summary

IR Contracting LLC in the Raleigh–Durham–Chapel Hill area is seeking a Utilities Superintendent to oversee daily field operations for water, sewer, storm, and related utility projects. This on-site role requires coordinating crews, equipment, and materials, reviewing drawings, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will lead field teams, monitor progress and costs, mentor workers, and foster continuous improvement in construction methods and project delivery in a dynamic utility

Qualifications

• Experience supervising utility construction projects (water, sewer, storm drainage)
• Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints
• Lead field crews and coordinate schedules with subcontractors
• Maintain jobsite safety and comply with OSHA/local regulations
• Communicate with project managers, inspectors, clients, and field teams
• Track progress, quantities, and costs; prepare basic field reports
• Familiarity with construction-related software or mobile tools
• Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors on active sites

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily field operations for underground and above-ground utility projects.
• Coordinate crews, equipment, and materials; monitor progress and costs.
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure adherence to plans.
• Communicate with project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
