Job summary

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies in Springfield, IL, is seeking a property and casualty field territory underwriter to evaluate, price, and approve risks while growing profitable agency partnerships. This field role covers Central or Southern Illinois.

You will work with independent agents, develop territory plans, and lead cross-functional teams. Travel is required to visit agencies, and the compensation includes base pay with bonus and stock incentives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of industry experience.
• Minimum 2 years multiline commercial underwriting experience; 3+ years preferred.
• Relevant insurance industry certifications (CIC or CPCU) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite: analyze risks, price, negotiate, and decide on commercial business.
• Market: sell and solicit business across territory to build agency relationships.
• Develop the territory: lead strategic plan development and execution for growth and profitability.
• Lead agencies: build diverse, profitable agency portfolios and maintain presence in office locations.
• Provide leadership: collaborate with other field disciplines to support agency success.
• Research the market: stay updated on industry trends and competitors to make informed decisions.
