Job summary

United Utility Services is seeking a skilled UAS Pilot to join our Transmission and Distribution team in the New Orleans area. You will perform ground and aerial field surveys, capture visual and thermal data, and support design, permitting, and construction technicians across projects with frequent travel and overnight stays.

Responsibilities include pre-flight planning, safe UAS operation near power lines, data collection and reporting, and ongoing safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience operating unmanned aerial systems, preferably in the T&D industry.
• Strong knowledge of T&D infrastructure, including power lines and poles.
• Proficiency in operating various UAS platforms and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and safety guidelines for UAS operations in T&D.

Responsibilities

• Pre-flight planning: review project requirements, weather, hazards and flight plan.
• UAS operation: safely fly to capture visual and thermal data of T&D poles.
• Data collection: capture images, thermal scans, and LiDAR for analysis.
• Inspection and analysis: identify damage or issues and provide reports.
• Safety compliance: follow safety protocols during flights near lines and structures.
