Job summary

Syngenta seeks a Trialing Specialist in Phoenix, AZ, to manage field trial cycles from planting to harvest, collecting high-quality phenotypic data and coordinating with growers and internal teams.

You will operate planters, tractors, and precision equipment, using drones and imaging tools to ensure data integrity and timely reporting. A BS is required; an MSc is preferred for advanced roles.

Qualifications

• BS degree required; MSc preferred in Crop Science, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field.
• Practical knowledge of crop management, agronomy, horticulture, plant physiology, and breeding in vegetable crops.
• Understanding of data quality procedures and data integrity for trials.
• Strong digital fluency and ability to use proprietary IT systems for data storage, printing labels, and inventory management.
• Hands-on experience operating farming and precision agriculture equipment (planters, tractors, automated harvest Machines).
• Experience with electronic data capture and digital phenotyping tools (e.g., drones, imaging); committed to ongoing learning.
• Fluency in English and the local language, with strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end trialing process from planning to harvest and data collection, ensuring objectives and quality standards are met.
• Operate and maintain farming and precision equipment; perform adjustments and basic repairs.
• Capture phenotypic observations using digital tools, imaging, and drones; ensure timely data storage in corporate systems.
• Select and optimize trial locations; prepare and negotiate grower contracts.
• Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, and Sales; communicate progress and resolve field issues.
• Lead third-party field crews; manage performance and ensure data integrity and safety standards.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in trial operations and phenotyping processes.
