Job summary

Syngenta Seeds in the United States is seeking a Research Associate 3 to support the regulated field trial network for corn and soybean yield trials. You will locate sites, plant, phenotype, harvest, and ensure data quality with strict compliance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (preferably in an agriculture-related discipline) or a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience is required.
• Experience with precision agriculture equipment and software systems is required.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.
• Ability to acquire and maintain Part 107 FAA is desirable.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a federal medical card to operate commercial motor vehicles is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a class A CDL is desirable.
• In depth knowledge of agriculture and agronomy practices is required.
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• Pesticide Applicators License Holder or ability to acquire a license is required.
• Experience working with regulated material is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Locate and contract high quality testing locations and manage planting, plot maintenance, spraying, phenotyping, and harvesting.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for regulated field trials and ensure paperwork and protocols are followed.
• Function as the key contact for assigned testing locations and coordinate operations.
• Maintain and operate agricultural machinery and research equipment including drones and phenotyping tools.
• Ensure safety and stewardship policies are followed and complete required training.
• Guide and supervise tasks by full-time and contract labor to achieve trial results.
• Communicate status of trials, data quality, and timelines with peers and supervisors.
• Suggest process improvements for local and regional sites.

Education

Master’s degree in agriculture or related field

Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience

Associate’s degree with significant experience

Tools

Precision agriculture software systems

Drones (UAS) operation
