Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group on projects across multiple locations. You will assess traffic control, environmental controls, and construction methods, reading plans and specs, and reporting daily activities to ensure quality control.

Travel is expected 20%–40% with frequent field work at project sites; a valid driver's license and ability to read and interpret contract documents are required; strong

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 0 years.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and project demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day‑to‑day work performed by the contractor. Review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily reports, inspect quality control procedures and material testing, and verify conformance with the Quality Control Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measure quantities of materials placed.
• May be required to perform sampling and/or in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
